Carla Handley (2014 - 2017) conducted research on cooperation, norms, moral preferences, and the population structure of cultural and genetic variation among the Turkana, Samburu, Rendille and Borana pastoralists in Kenya.

Matthew Zefferman ​(2015 - 2017) conducted research on combat exposure and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and moral injury in Turkana warriors.​

Hillary Lenfesty (​2015-2017) conducted laboratory experiments investigating the role of third-party arbitration in resolving perception errors in pairwise cooperation.


Graduate students

Minhua Yan (2016 - now; co-advised by Robert Boyd) is studying how norms evolve through mathematical modeling and field studies among the Derung in China.

Liam Gleason (2017 - now) examines how indirect reciprocity and reputation work to facilitate cooperation among Turkana warriors on raids.
